The Famine is over for Tipperary football01 Apr 2010
March 31st 2010 Tipperary under21 footballers beat Kerry in the Munster Final in Tralee 1-07 to 1-06 .Tipperary have endured shattering disappointments in the U21 grade ,but last night in Austin Stack Park
Tipperary swept aside that hurt to finally inscribe their name on the Munster roll of honour.
Twelve months ago Tipperary suffered at the hands of Cork by a goal in injury time but last night they displayed the courage and committment that is needed to win finals.
Captain Ciarán McDonald, and John Coghlan, who had appeared in each of Tipperary’s last three Munster U 21 final losses, starred in an excellent defensive display by Tipperary. Sean Carey at wing-forward and Alan Moloney at midfield were shinning facets but the real star was Peter Acheson. The Moyle Rovers man was in magnificient form at midfield, deservedly collected the man-of -the match award afterwards. They now await the Ulster champions to be played on 17th April at a venue to be decided.
